English 421Y: Technical Writing Online

To continue my research, I will be gathering information from OpenText.

The goal of OpenText’s Livelink is to “Orchestrate your People, Processes, and Content to achieve strategic success.” OpenText’s ECM Suite supports management of enterprise content, employee and community collaboration, and business process management. OpenText provides two applications for its Document Management component. One is a system that provides a web based repository for all of the enterprises documents and the other application includes the first system plus additional features capable of modifying data/documents/restrictions throughout a documents lifecycle. More information on the latter can be found here. OpenText also provides some extensions for its Document Management components. The Employee and Community repository allows the company’s employees and partners to stay in touch through workspaces, email, forums and instant messaging. The social repository can be linked to the document repository for easy access to any enterprise information. OpenText provides a great number of features with its Web Content Management. The platform allows for the company to create and manage online content for its customers and employees. Any documents on the repository can be published on and viewed from the web. Even SharePoint documents can be viewed and modified with the WCM. Some other useful features that the OpenText platform provides are Email Management (archive, monitor, shrink email database), Capture & Delivery (converting analog documents to rich digital copies with multiple features), and Digital Asset Management (used to manage any type of digital media: audio, video, etc.).

Our audiences will greatly appreciate OpenText’s document management, collaboration content and its many extra features, such as Capture & Delivery and Digital Asset Management. The main audience will find the fully featured Web Content Management component very handy. The secondary audience will find the SharePoint document compatibility feature useful.
