The second resource that I researched was from http://www.renewableenergyworld.com. To be current with my research and because our main audience is Cabinet members in the Department of Energy, I researched what President Obama’s developments on hydropower were. With current information our white paper project will be more reliable than giving statistics from 2006. Since we are making a white paper on using renewable resources over oil dependant resources, our sources must be mostly recent sources.

In the article titled, “New Developments in Hydropower Can Supercharge Obama’s Green Jobs Plan”, Bourne Energy Inc. discusses some of the new developments in hydropower. It majority talks about small hydro power (SHP) strategies. These SHP units can be easily mass-produced and can create a lot of energy. Actually SHP units create 3000 MW in the US. The development of SHP units will drastically help the economy and is projected to create a lot of jobs. Only 720,000 units is needed to produce 36,000 MW increase in clean energy capacity. This will cut annual oil imports by tens of millions of barrels. I think all of this information can help me develop a “new development” section on hydro power. With some history, a comparison section, and a new development section I think that the hydro power part of our white paper project will be great.
