Research Blog 1 - Solutions of Residential Renewable Energy

My research blog will consist of possible solutions relative to Group 2’s White Paper Project topic, domestic wind turbines. There are several different companies that offer alternative energy solutions. The companies that I researched are Swift Wind Turbine and Skystream. Both are accountable companies that offer wind turbine products for households. These options will be explained in further detail in our white paper as possible sources for wind turbine technology.

Both products are restricted to residences on some variables. Geographical area depicts both the functionality and availability of wind turbines. Areas covered with mountains or a high tree line is not recommended for these products. In addition, residential wind turbine technology is young, the product availability and installation may not be offered in some areas. However, Skystream’s turbine product is offered in several locations through energy dealers across the country.

In addition to the availability, I researched the benefits in relation to alternative energy solutions. There are two websites that break down the federal incentives (http://www.dsireusa.org/feeds/southwestwindpower/incentive.cfm?Incentive... and http://www.dsireusa.org/feeds/southwestwindpower/incentive.cfm?Incentive...). They both explain the tax credits a homeowner would receive under the type of energy source under quality standards. Also, I have researched the potential benefits from having a residential renewable energy source in Indiana. http://www.dsireusa.org/feeds/southwestwindpower/incentive.cfm?Incentive... is a website that explains Indiana’s renewable energy property tax exemption policies. And in lieu of President Obama’s stimulus package, renewable energy offers further savings to individuals based on location. But basically, a homeowner of a Skystream wind turbine can receive up to 30% tax credit from the price of the product.
