In my first research blog I will be summarizing the information that I have found from http://learningremix.emich.edu/Winter08/learning_remix/2008/01/advantage... for my white paper project. The information from this website has information from a Learning Community at Eastern Michigan University from 2008.
On the website I found information that discusses the advantages and disadvantages of Mozilla Firefox over Internet Explorer. While researching I found this website by using a Google Scholar search engine which returns scholarly based documents, instead of potential unreliable websites. The information describes the advantages of Firefox in its bookmark management system over Internet Explorer. However, I found for my research purposes the contents of the disadvantages information sections to be more valuable to my research. The article states three problems that Firefox has yet to solve which include slow initial loading, lack of HTML editor and problems with users using older versions of Firefox (pre 1.5).
The information contents from this website gives good points in which can help in our white paper project. Since our audience is a small IT company, the lack of HTML editor in the Firefox browser is vital information to be made aware of. With the view-open source option in Firefox it only allows the viewer to look at the source instead of editing. If the small IT company wanted its multimedia programmers to edit context for its website it would be a hassle.
Another hassle that comes from Firefox is the slow initial loading time. While opening Firefox after booting up it takes a long time to display the home page. Internet Explorer has the fastest load time due to the fact it loads along with the operating system (http://download-firefox.org/firefox-browser/advantages-disadvantages-of-...) . This would present a case in the white paper to give the customer a different choice.
