Thinking about all the uses of open source programming one thought crossed my mind, security. I stumbled across this site, http://www.albion.com/security/intro-7.html, which talks about how open source programming can be very beneficial, but not always secure. By having the source openly available for everyone to see it makes it easier for people to go in and make them more secure for their users. This website talks about why it is easier and how problems have been fixed in the past. This site also opens an eye on how important security is when using these programs and how everyone takes part in trying to make these programs more secure. It also points out examples on how people go about this. It also explains how open source programs can be just as secure as the big player's programs are. I believe this could be a major point to bring across to our readers. The point would be, even though these programs are much cheaper, if not free, they get the same benefits including the security of their information being used while using open source programming. Another good point would be that unlike most other programs out there, open source programming is also under review by other programmers that want to help out the little guy and provide the best program available.
