Tech review 2

For my final research blog I was able to find another technical review of the Netgear WGR614 wireless router. I found it at devhardware.com. This review was able to confirm many of the pros and cons that were listed in the first review that I read. It talked about the ease of setup as well as the high average speed and long range of the router.

However along with these things it did mention a few points that were missed on the first review. For instance the router lacks any kind of a power switch, so to restart the router you must manually unplug it and then plug it back in. Along with this the reviewer mentions the AC adapter for it is massive and takes up a lot of space even though the router itself is very slim and comes with stands so it is able to have a variety of positions. Other highlights were the routers reliability, even after numerous drops and other wear and tear, the only time the reviewer had to restart the router was if the modem had to be reset for some reason, the router did not always refresh the modems IP address. Overall the reviewer thought very highly of the router although it does have its drawbacks.

One more thing worth noting, along with laptops and desktops the router is also compatible with other wireless media devices, eg things like an xbox or some other media player would be able to connect to the router too.
