I did previously find a site that talked about what open source programming is all about I found another one that goes into a lot of depth about all the benefits that come from using an open source program. The information that could be of value for our white paper project would be the information pertaining to the reliability and stability of these programs. The main concern many people may have about free programs is how stable the program may be and the future problems that may arise while using open source programs. This site provides a lot of information that could persuade people to use them cause they can be just as good as a program that a large sum of money is spent on. When it comes to reliability, they state if using an open source program and a problem is encountered, the problem can be fixed in a matter of hours due to the amount of people out there that are available to fix any given problem. This site also states that it has been proven that if people have problems they get fixed right away. Also, having an open source, it is under constant review by other programmers who are trying to make the program more efficient. This site also provides information regarding the ever changing world of programs. They state that when dealing with "vendor-push" programs, you are pretty much stuck with what you got. With open source programs, they are always changing to better fit the needs of the user.
