This week has been quite busy for me! From researching to writing the group activity report, things have kept me moving. Moving in the right direction though! I began the week off by sitting down and thinking of the different functions of our cost analysis that would need to exist. Once I outlined several different areas that our cost analysis should include I began researching these and documenting what I found accordingly. I found many different publications online with loads of useful information.
Most research I found turned out to be actual case studies of Open Source vs. Microsoft implementations. I found these to be extremely useful and gave me a great insight into an actual instance of this situation. I found some good raw numbers of hardware costs, support costs, migration costs, etc. that will be useful in deeply analyzing these different options. I also think these will work quite well for some diagrams in our paper.
I also worked on a thumbnail this week and aided in choosing a final design for our paper. I commented on everyone’s thumbnails and gave my two cents on what I thought would work best for our white paper. We sort of decided on several features that will probably stem from my thumbnail and Jacks.
In addition to my research this week, I kept track of group events and documented those in our group activity report. Lastly, I’m currently beginning to outline some ideas for the flow of our paper so we can begin drafting.
