English 421Y: Technical Writing Online

The majority of my time this week was spent on researching information for the white paper. Using credible sources I research not only how geothermal technology worked in general but also focused my research on vertical loop geothermal systems. While I did find a good diagram that depicted a vertical loop geothermal system, I would like to also try and find some more facts and figures in regards to time/money that a vertical loop system requires. I believe that this is important as it will provide our audience with all the information to they need to make an educated decision.

Almost as important as the information is the design of a white paper. I also spent time this week designing a layout that would be able to effectively convey the information that my group and I are working on producing. It appears that we might be pursuing a two column layout. We feel that it is the best way to balance the amount of white space with the amount of text. The two column layout will also allow for a nice flow which will also help with readability.

This week I will be using my time to turn the research into content for a our white paper. I will be doing the writing early in the week to allow enough time for editing purposes. While we are only working on a rough draft, I want my part to be as polished as possible so that we have plenty of time next week to refine the whole paper. This week I am also responsible for the group activity log.
