English 421Y: Technical Writing Online

This activity report summarizes the progress that I have made this week in regard to the white paper project.

Although there was only one deliverable assigned this week, that is the rough draft, there was much work to be done to complete this document. The majority of the time and work that I’ve dedicated to the rough draft was primarily spent refining the research I had performed for the previous week and composing the introduction of the white paper. This portion went relatively smoothly and I was pleased with the turnout.

Beyond the introduction, I’ve also written the group activity report for my team this week and was responsible for assembling the white paper from each member’s individual contributions. This proved very difficult, likely as a result of a general misunderstanding in the information gathering and research phase between members. When I had begun to incorporate each member’s sections, I quickly found a mess of conflicting styles and inconsistencies. Some members needed more time than the rest, which limited the amount of time we had to review the assembled rough draft and perform the necessary revisions to be satisfied. However, we will account for these revisions in the final draft.

I anticipate that my team and I will dedicate many hours in the upcoming week toward revising and perfecting the final draft of our white paper. There is much to be done and we are planning frequent meetings, in addition to the independent work.
