For our first week of creating our white paper we started with the basics. First we created a Google Group. This is an important step, especially for an online class since we do not have an actual class time to meet. Through our Google group and email, we exchanged information which included our email addresses, screen names, and phone numbers. We plan to use our Google group to its fullest capacity by adding blog posts on it so that any one of us can edit and add to it when we see fit or just posting announcements that will be sent out to all group members.
We scheduled an online meeting to discuss possible topics. At first we narrowed it down to fields of technology since we all have a good understanding of the industry and have read plenty of technical white pages. In the end we decided to write a white paper over Microsoft SharePoint, and perhaps its competition, Google Groups. We felt that Microsoft SharePoint was an important device that needed awareness for various groups of people. For starting businesses, it can give a sense of unity to newly formed teammates. This program will also aid in business workers who travel a lot. Instead of calling various people, they can check their group and find out what is going on with their latest project. We also felt that it can help freshmen at Purdue who have never used either of these programs for group work. That way they can start off their four year journey a little easier when dealing with group projects.
At the end of the meeting, we split up work and decided to put it all together on Friday before midnight. This way we could meet one more time and go over any issues that we came across. Thankfully there were no problems this week. We were able to submit our project proposal and our weekly group activity report on time with the proper tags.
