English 421Y: Technical Writing Online

This week our group had many discussions about what we are planning to do in terms of researching for the white paper. We split the research into four different parts which were problem, solution, technology, and performance. I am doing the performance aspect of the research which will include which wind turbine is the “best” in the category of home application wind turbines. When doing my research I plan to look into the differences in brands and figure out the top three or four brands of turbines. I have already started on the research this week and have found some pretty good raw factual data to include in the white paper. This data will include things like power ratings, general cost, and things like that. While collecting all of this data I have been keeping in mind the credibility of the sources and I will make sure to only use sites that people will trust. This week our group has also been discussing the audience we are trying to relate to with our white paper. This audience will most likely be the people who want to try and do their part to help conserve resources. These groups of people are the ones who would like to make their home much more energy efficient with the use of things like solar panels as well as wind turbines. Overall I think that our white paper will be very effective in covering this topic.
