This week our group narrowed our topic choices down to a comparison of routers designed for home networking. After identifying our subject area and audience, I was able to find three popular router options in the $40 - $60 price range that our group will be researching. These include the D-Link DIR-615, the Netgear WGR614, and the Linksys WRT54G2.
During our group meeting, we also decided to start our Gantt chart. I was assigned the task of filling in the important due dates from the course website’s calendar. After the group decided on other due dates, meeting times, and assignments, I converted the document to .pdf format and submitted it as a blog.
Most of my other time has been spent researching the Linksys WRT54G2. Up until now I’ve been looking for as many reviews as I can (mostly to learn about its bench performance), but I also plan on further researching some of the unique features of this router. As I come across websites that may benefit others in the group, I make sure to forward them on as necessary. We’re also using Google Docs to keep track of the features of each router as members of the group find them. Furthermore, my research blogs are in progress, and I’m on track to finish them this week.
Other than that, I have started my thumbnail draft that is due on Wednesday. It’s close to being finished, and I’ll definitely have it ready in time.
Over the next few days I plan to continue finding new sources of information, as well as finish my research blogs before Friday.
