Resume Extravagenza

Upon completing the resume extravagenza, I have come up with five resumes which deserve a call back. The five resumes are 5,9,14,16 and 20. There were many factors that shaped my decision, but the first item that I looked for was something caught my eye. Each of these resumes had something that caught my attention and intrigued me to read on. As I read on, I found that each of these candidates, were sufficiently educated and set themselves apart from the rest by doing unique. By unique I mean an interesting internship, volunteer work or possibly an ambitious class load.

Reading Response - Week Two

I am writing in response to the email in which the CEO chewed out his employees in an email and then his stock plummeted by more than thirty-three percent. First of all, I would like to comment on his style of management. He quoted in an interview that “he attributed his blunt management style to growing up on a farm in Oklahoma. He told the New York Times: "You can take the boy off the farm, but you can't take the farm out of the boy,” (www.commondreams.org).

Job Ad Analysis

The job that I chose to apply for is an O&M operations site supervisor at the Johnson Controls facility in West Lafayette, In. There are many reasons that I feel this job is right for me. First all, Johnson Controls is a global company that focuses on growth. This is appealing to me because I know that I want to work for a company that is moving forward and not backwards. Secondly, this position fits in very well with my major. Since my degree will be in OLS, and I have concentrated on manufacturing, this position will sit very well with me.

Reading Response #1

After reviewing the text, I have come to the conclusion that English 420 is centered around creating professional business documents. The book seems to be more of a guide of how to create these documents rather than just paragraphs of information. The text book will help with this class as well as in the business world. I hope to be able take the information provided and use it to construct business documents when called on to do so.
