Kottke Work Blog Week 8

Well it was our last week of class and our group really had a lot of work to do to get our final draft in presentable status. We started by just corresponding through emails about what had to be done based upon on the feedback that we had gotten the week before from fellow students and the CFRC. Then I suggested that someone should compile everything that we have been talking about and all the feedback we have received into a list. Bill stepped forward once again and made a list of revisions that had to be made.

Kottke Week 7 Work Blog

This week was another very productive week. Our second draft for our brochure was due on Tuesday night and we all put a lot of positive feedback into it to get it done and make a lot of great changes to it. On Sunday night Suchet wrote our activity report to our professor. Before me emailed it to our professor he emailed to all of us and we gave him some feedback on what he wrote and them he was able to email it off to him. It is amazing Suchet is living in Singapore this morning and for the past week and a half he has been in India.

Week 7 Reading Response

I am fairly happy with my group’s brochure although after doing the 5 minute brochure trash test I do see some more changes that need to be made to our brochure before the final draft is due next week. The 5 minute trash test really opened my eyes to a few aspects of brochures that I never really thought of before that we need to include. Through out the drafts we have made many revisions and it is getting closer to completion after these few more changes I don’t think it will go in the trash can.

Kottke Work Week Blog #2

This week was a very productive week for my group and I. We really got a lot done and while we were working hard we really got to know each other and how we all work. We also learned how each one of us in the group work and how we work together in one unison group. The week started out good, Keeli wrote our first weekly activity report and before she emailed for our professor we all read it over and added in some of our own extra touches to it. On Sunday I also started designing our brochure for our group. This was a bit more challenging then I thought it would be.

Week 6 Reading Response

As I read through chapters 24 and 37 there were a lot of different principles to keep in mind and apply when designing a brochure. Before I started to design the brochure for my group I sat down and thought about variety, conciseness, audience, and design of my draft of the brochure. When writing out the information for the brochure it was very hard to have sentence variety because a lot of the information was the same and had to say the same information. Our group tried to make the information in our brochure made up of simple and compound sentences.

Kottke Work Blog Week #5

The first week of working with my group went really well. Honestly I was a little eerie about working with a group online; it does and still kind of scares me. When we were assigned our groups Suchet emailed us right away and I was absolutely shocked to find out that he was living in Singapore for the summer and we were working in a group together. I know it is going to be challenging at some times but I believe that we will work through it. Everyone in my group has been corresponding through email and introducing themselves, telling us where they live and what they are doing for the summer.

Week 5 Reading Response

The brochure that I found online was very creative and well designed. The opening page of it really caught my eye and made me want to read on and find out what they had to say and what it was about. My brochure that I found was for HP Business Technology, it is about shifting your focus to the business side of technology.
