This last week went fairly well for our group. We all communicated well and were able to complete our brochure in a timely manner. THe main goal for this week was to revise our brochure for the last time. On Monday I went over the feedback provided by the CRFC, and then I considered there recommendations. On Tuesday I went back and changed a lot on the brochure based off of the feedback. I tried to revise the paragraphs because they were a bit choppy. I also aligned some of words on the brochure. My job was just to fix the shortcomings on the brochure.
This week went fairly well for our group. At the beginning of the week I focused on revising the design of our brochure to better suit the audience and client. This was a challenge for me again because I'm not that good with Publisher yet. With Rachel as my design partner we were able to make significant changes to the brochure. One thing that kept messing up was the lines on the last page, everytime we emailed a copy of our brochure the lines were not aligned. I fixed the lines and it didn't look right still, finally Bill got the lines to stay.
I think the crash test will be helpful when we revise our brochure. The crash test was like a checklist and can only improve our brochure.
Appeal to emotions (+)
I think we did a great job trying to show emotion throughout our Christmas brochure. The pictures really showed emotion, such as being happy. At most Christmas events, the goal is for everyone to be happy, and we were able to show that. I also thought the color theme went along with Christmas and that helped.
Be Professional (-)
This week started for me on Sunday, July 15 I was responsible for the group activity report. This was not a difficult assignment, I just wasn’t sure what to put because we hadn’t done that much work yet. I just focused on how our group brainstormed and came with ideas for the project. The last thing I mentioned in the report was how we used the Gannt chart to identify who was going to do what and when for the service learning project. This helped us to get organized for the project.
After reading chapter 37 I began to think about how to make our brochure could a nice sentence structure. The ideas that the Thomson Handbook focused on was that sentences should be “simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex.” We used a mixture of all of these in our brochure. I thought it was important to try different types of sentences. By using different types of sentences, I think it made it easier for the reader to comprehend. Comprehension is key especially when focusing on different types of people and interests.
The first week went very well for our group. I sent out an email about myself after I found out who my group members were. I introduced myself and the times Iwould be available throughout the week. I met my other group members iin an AIM chat room and discussed the Gantt Chart and some upcoming projects. We worked on the chart together and gave each other ideas. We all worked together on this first meeting to figure out the dates of projects and how we would spilt it up. In the upcoming weeks, we will have more independent work before we put it all together.
