English 420Y - Business Writing Online

This being our final week our team just revised our brochures and tried to listen to what the reviews said to make them look as professional as we could. We changed up a few backrounds and pictures in both of the brochures. I filled out my teams project assessment for the end of the class, which had nothing but good remarks. Laura, Matt, and Samana were great to work with. They really carried our team and made the work what it is. It was tough to communicate towards the end of the past week. Everyone it starting to migrate back to school.

- I find our brochure to be very appealing to our audince because its main goal is to get people to want to save or rescue an animal. Adding the pictures of cute puppies as we did really pulls on our customers emotions. Everyone always wants to save an dog or cat and our brochure really allows our customer to feel that.

- I feel that our brochure has a very professional look to it, with the aid of Microsoft Publisher. This allowed us to use add pictures and other information to let the customer know that we are very professional about what we do.

As far as this weeks schedule went, it was pretty easy for our group. We turned in our brochure on time and I thought, as well as the other three in my group, that it looked great. Matt did a great job of getting the rough draft going and now everyone will be pitching in to take care of helping it get to its final project. The hardships played by not being able to have face to face contact are starting to make a mark. Not in a bad way, but it makes it tough to get things done in an efficient manner when everyone has a different schedule and also try to do their work for this class.

After reading Chapter 37 in our handbook, I feel that our group came up with a very simple looking brochure that also provided a good amount of information. Although it still needs some work, a lot of information such as who we are and what our goal is, are all given in the brochure. There are a mix of different sentences, most of which are kept simple and filled with information. I think this type of writing fits our audience best, and does not make them read a novel before they find out what they are looking for.

Considering this was our groups first week together, it took us a while to get going. We started off emailing each other about who we were and really trying to give each person in our 4 person group a feel for who we are and how we work. It was very neat to see the diversity we have in our group and how far away our message are traveling just to get this project done. Matt seemed to be a very outgoing senior and wanted to be the leader, which turns out to be great because our first step, the Gnatt Chart, is due today.

Help me out and give me some information

I found a video on YouTube filled by a college age student and three of his friends while going through the termoil of the snow storms with JetBlue. It took him two and half days to get from JFK in New York to Sacramento California. I understand why he was angry at JetBlue and the reason for his complaints in the video. He did mention the Customer Bill of Rights and how he was going to get a refund for his ticket, but he said that he was not going to get a refund for the two extra nights of hotel rooms he and his buddies had stay.
