Actually, I had reviewed your thumbnail before I had seen Adam P.’s and your comment about the color. So I do think that yours would benefit from color, but now that I’m aware that it’s just because you weren’t sure how to make it a different color. I also liked the picture you chose, very artsy. It seems as though something like that will help balance our white paper from being just severely technical you know? I’m really just having trouble visualizing how we are going to format this project so that we can sensibly present all the tables and charts that we want to present with side by side comparisons. This is definitely something that we need to figure out possibly from reviewing similar types of white papers and seeing how they presented their information.
One thing we may need to incorporate that would be different from your thumbnail would be color. Having titles and subtitles with color will help our white paper stand out a little more. I like the lines that you have under the different subheadings and titles. We should use this separation method to keep our sections separate from one another. Your thumbnail reminded me of something that I forgot that we will definitely need: page numbers. Page numbers will be a plus, except I am not sure if we need one on the first page. Especially if it is just a cover page.
I agree that this design could benefit from more use of color. Adding a border around the picture really makes them distinctive and helps to separate them from the text. I think the spacing from the text to the picture you used on the green energy graphic is great. The text doesn’t appear to me mashed up around the picture, which seems to happen a lot. One thing I’d add would be a more prominent heading. Something visually appealing but not too over the top would probably serve a technical paper pretty well. I would also change the length of the horizontal line under the sub heading, it seems to conflict with the major heading line above it.
