I think this could work for a simple white paper. I think we would benefit though by including the graphs in with our text. I like the look of the graphs being included in the text instead of off to the side. I think that would help the weight of the paper. What would we do if we don’t have enough graphs for this design also? Would we just plan on filling the page with words? Would we include some blurps with key points off to the side when there are no graphs to include? These are just a few things that I thought of with this design.
After reviewing all the white paper thumbnails, I think we all share similar ideas for the way the paper should be designed. A two column format seems easy to read, and a really solid design choice in general for this project.
I think the best course of action would be for our group to choose 1, and make some subtle changes to incorporate the other's ideas. For instance, the only negative comment on mine is the location of the page number, which can easily be moved. Other than this fact, does everyone like the theme and design? If so, we can use that as the basis for a two column layout, and incorporate some cool ideas like the use of 3-d graphs, etc.
I like how you have implemented a two column design with the text resigning on the left and the diagrams or pictures on the right. This organizes the information in a logical and easily readable format. I think as Jack mentioned in another comment we need to use more color to separate headings and text and other parts of the paper. This would really help to organize the information in an easy and understandable way. I think some kind of figure labels need to be used on any pictures or tables and such to easily reference them in the text.
