For my first research blog I decide to find out about the cons of domestic wind turbine use. Since we need to present both sides of the argument I thought that this could be used as its own section within the white paper. The information I found was from http://www.eejitsguides.com/environment/domestic-turbines.html.
This article brought up many valid points about the cons of using a wind turbine to help power your home. This sight also presented some physics formulas to help determine the amount of power a wind turbine can produce. This information could be used as a side note to complement the main sections of the paper.
First of all you pretty much have to be living in a very windy area. If you are not living in a windy area the turbine is not going to spin fast enough to generate the power that you need. So, if you are living in an urban environment wind turbines are probably not for you. Also even if you do live in a very windy area you have to be careful about where you actually place the turbine. If you have a large amount of obstacles around your home, such as trees, than the turbine is not going to catch enough wind and spin fast enough to generate the power you need. Secondly the actual size of a wind turbine can affect the amount of power it puts out. Domestic wind turbines are generally smaller in diameter than other wind turbines, which puts a limit on the amount of power that they generate.
