For my second research blog, I decided to cover the information that was contained in an article titled New York Needs Renewable Wind Power, which is available online here. This article was published by Citizens Campaign for the Environment, an 80,000 member not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing strong environmental policies. This article discusses reasons of support for renewable energy and wind power in New York.
This article provides many technical details into the reasons why wind power should be suggested. The reasons range from the negative impact of current power plants to increasing local tax revenue. Some of the negative implications of using current power plants are that they make people sick and reduce the life expectancy of those who live by the power plants. In addition to this, they create extra pollution that not only has an impact on humans but also on wildlife. The current power plants often increase our dependence on foreign imports such as coal and oil.
While this article is targeted towards New York, most of the information is applicable to the entire United States. As with all of my other research blogs, this information will help establish the need for wind power. This article in particular touches on some topics that our audience will be able to relate to, such as energy prices. Since this document is signed by people from major environmental and health agencies citing this source will help increase the credibility of our white paper. Citing this article will be very beneficial when discussing the need for wind power in our white paper.
