Resume Review

Well from looking at your resume I see a few things you might want to correct.
Starting at the top you might want to consider listing your addresses down instead across as it makes it easier for the recruiter to scan it. At least that’s what I learned last semester in my interviewing class. Also, we learned that some of our resumes stay in their system for awhile. That is why we should list how long we will be at our apartments or dorms when we are at college. Also for your phone numbers listed, which one is the cell and which one is the home? You might want to make that clear as well as moving your email address by them.

The Career objective seemed nice and can be personalized to the company you are applying for.

Education section could use work. Add the year you started college across from Purdue University line. Sort of like how it is like with your work experience section. I would also say what your GPA is out of as schools vary. Since it is Purdue I know that you have a 3.7 out of 4.0

Work Experience section needs work. I would switch the company and what the job description was as you should highlight the company first. I would also tab over the length of time spend working so it would match up with the location. Maybe go into more detail about what you did for general labor instead of just saying that.

As for your Activities section I would ditch it unless you won an award for ATV riding or helped a local Boy Scout troop with camping. Maybe you were captain of your sports team, if you were that shows you have leadership. Try to tie it into the company or have it so it makes yourself look better.

Resume Draft review 1

The first, obvious thing you need to do is to add a skills section. Most reviewers don't go over every word and my be looking specifically for a skills or ability section on the resume. It would be very wise to include this by taking out some of the wasted room. You don't need a line between every section. The font could probably be trimmed down a little bit. The activities section could definitely get trimmed a lot, because if you want to put activities that are not directly related to the job then you can put them all on one line. For a skills section you could put a position you have had in a group, a program you're familiar with, or pertinent classes you've had; just don't leave it out.
Starting with the small stuff, in your objective section you should probably put in the company you're applying to since one resume for all companies is a bad idea. In the work experience section you state twice that you performed “manual labor” which I doubt is going to help out any resume. Also, for a good space saver you could easily combine your last two work experiences into one. And remember to shorten or nix the activities section.
For your format, your text seems kind of dull and does not really grab any attention. A different font or throwing in some italics in appropriate places could really help. Most important is adding that skill section though. It would be bittersweet to lose a job just because your resume got skipped since the reviewer didn't have a skill section to examine.
