I have a few comments and suggestions:
Your graphics seem to be well selected. They are also a little grainy (you might play with the resolution here).
Do you plan on supplementing all of your graphics with elements that will focus the user's attention (circles, arrows, highlights, etc.) as you do here?
It is unclear what the dimensions of your instruction sets will be. It appears to be 8.5 x 11. Do you think that is appropriate for the physical context of use? (This is a genuine question.) The pages are also loaded to the brim. In particular with the beginner set, you need to consider using more white space to give the user's eye a place to rest. You don't want to overwhelm the audience before they even begin to follow the instructions.
It is hard to tell what qualitative differences exists between the thumbnails as they now stand. Both appear to be step-by-step instructions, with the beginner set containing more steps than the expert set. This is not say there isn't such a difference, just that it isn't showing up in the design. You might check out Ben's thumbnails for an example to two similar yet distinct thumbnails for novice and expert audiences
Remember to focus on creating sets that differ in kind rather than degree.
I think you graphics and thumbnails are getting off on the right track. I feel you might want to change your graphic a bit. For example in one of them you have a screenshot of a download message on top of some other windows, in Windows if you hit ALT + PRINT SCREEN it will take a screenshot of the current window that has focus. This will allow the user to really focus on the window you’re talking about. I can’t see any noticeable differences in your thumbnails. Remember, these need to functionally serve the different users. Consider what would be necessary to you if this was the first time you were installing an application. What kind of features in your document would best serve this type of user verses someone who has installed many applications throughout their life? Implements these features accordingly so that the document serves the different types of users.
Nice job on creating the thumbnail draft. It looks professional and is what the instructor is looking for to get a high grade on this assignment. I only have a few recommendations. The first one is filling out the second page of your thumbnails. I think it would look better if you were to find a way to fill out the second page with some more information and use the whole page. You might be able to do this by trying to explain some more about Full tilt poker. One last recommendation that I have is maybe using another graphic to help explain some more information.
