Thumbs and Graphics

Joey, I really like the layouts of the thumbnails that you have made for the novice and experienced. The color shade of green you have chosen is matches Xbox 360 unique green scheme. When the user first sees the layout they can associate your instructions with being for Xbox 360. Also, I like the summary box that you have provided.
The pictures you have chosen are good. Having the photo of Xbox 360 will be nice for a novice to relate with. With the interface photo the user will be able to follow and understand your instructions better.
Overall, you have a great start and I think you are on the right track.

I really like your use of accenting in your graphics. The color scheme also seems appropriate to your topic because of its connections with both the individual game and the Xbox 360 system. I am curious about your choice of document dimensions. What is driving the choices to make the expert set 6 x 9.5 and the novice set 7 x 9.5? Is there something in the different needs of the groups that makes these sizes more effective? These kinds of design decisions are interesting, because we might consider whether (particularly novice) users might benefit from putting one step per page, or what sort of format would be effective for each group (such as small booklet vs. one-sheet handbill).

Possible Size Revisions

I chose the dimensions for my two different sets of instructions for several different reasons. I decided to make the beginner instructions 7 X 9.5 in so that there would be more room for pictures and explanations of the different steps in it. After thinking about it a little longer, I am probably going to keep it 7” wide and make it a little shorter (5-6”) so that I can possibly fit only one or two steps per page to keep it easier to read and follow. The most effective and easiest way to make the novice instructions might be to make smaller pages and put them in a small booklet, so the user can just flip the page after every step.

I chose to make the expert instructions a little less wide because they will probably need less of an explanation and fewer descriptions to figure out my instructions, and I will probably keep it that way. The instructions for the expert is probably going to be in a long list with pictures describing most of the steps, but with fewer descriptions and details of the pictures themselves.

Joey, i really like the way that everythinkg flowed in your thumbnails. I think that the color design that you are using is perfect for what you want to accomplish in the future. I also like the way that everything is set up. Your stuff looks good, but i think that you might be able to use some more room for pictures. I think that you have a good project plan and i am very intrested to see how everything else comes along. I really like where you are at right now.
