The process that I am choosing for this project will be to correctly use Call of Duty 5 on XBOX 360 in both a single player game mode and an online XBOX live game. I will show my audiences how to turn on the XBOX and all of the necessary steps to successfully start Call of Duty 5. There are many different steps that need to be followed to correctly set up a game, including connecting and turning on your XBOX, inserting the game, and navigating throughout all the menus for the two different users. I am qualified with this area because I have played the game hundreds of times and have had to do this exact sequence of events almost every time. I am also qualified because I have played Call of Duty 4 and Call of Duty 3 on the same XBOX 360 platform.
My first audience will be a first time buyer/user of XBOX 360 and I will have to go into great depth on how to successfully show them the different components of the XBOX, how to successfully hook up the XBOX, how to log onto/create a gamer account, and how to navigate through the menus to start game play. For the experienced XBOX user I will have to help them turn on their XBOX, log onto their XBOX live account, navigate through the menus, and show them the different aspects and tricks of online play. For my graphics I will probably just have to take digital photos of all the different steps and put them into my instructions. My layout will probably have big pictures and bold fonts, with descriptions in smaller fonts for every step.
re: XBOX Proposal Number 2
This proposal is solid overall, but as is stated in the Proposal Redux post, you don't want to take a system-centered approach and differentiate audiences on the basis of knowledge and experience. You want to take a user-centered approach and think about your audience groups as discreet entities with different needs, expectations, and values. Also, you don't provide much detail about possible graphics (what would "digital photos of all the different steps" look like?) nor layout (what will the structure of the document be?), as stipulated by the project description.
