My instructions might look out of order in the PDF but that is due to the fact that it is meant to be printed out and folded into a booklet. Sorry for any confusion it might cause. There are page number at the bottom to help.
My novice instructions focus on downloading/installing iTunes, putting music on the computer, and then putting music on an iPod. My expert instructions focus less on the installation part and more on the features of iTunes, such as Genius playlists and Smart Playlists. My usability test is a survey that will help me better understand how others view my instructions. Please fill out the survey and post your reply as a comment here. Also feel free to mark up my instructions if you feel that that would better demonstrate your opinions.

Were there any typos or grammar errors in the manual?
None that I could see.
Did the design of the manual help or hinder you?
Keeping in mind the fact that this is meant to be folded: the design seemed fine. The green boarders helped to keep things flowing. The big thing I noticed though, was the use of justified text. This didn’t work so well for me; there were a lot of end-of-line words that got “-“ to the next line.
Do you feel the way I am delivering my instructions (in a 5 ½”x8 ½” booklet) is effective?
The booklet style is good. I’m thinking it would be packaged with an iPod or something like that.
Were you able to successfully follow both the novice and expert set of instructions? If not what
prevented you from doing so?
Yep-easy.
Do you feel that the manual was written in a sequential fashion?
Yes.
Was there any part of the instruction manual you thought could have been explained more thoroughly?
Everything was explained well, and I liked the summary at the end-really helps.
More detail given, more pictures, etc.?
Definitly not.
Are the expert instructions properly written towards an expert reader?
Yep
Are the novice instructions properly written towards a novice reader?
Yep
Were there any steps that were not included that you feel should have been included (i.e. I forgot something)?
You could include information on ripping a cd and the different importing options available (mp3, aac, ect.)
Name one thing you think stood in the instructions and one thing that could be improved upon.
The boarders were great. The headers didn’t grab my attention enough; the subheaders seemed to be hidden in the text under the boarder. Also, in the beginner set there was a lot of space at the end after the apendix-a few things seemed to be a bit smooshed, perhaps make some of the images larger or move things around to make the text easier to read and fill out that space.
Thanks
Yeah I didn't like the hyphenation either. Luckily I've found out how to change that. I was trying to differentiate the sub headers but I agree that italicizing them made them seem hidden. I also added more things to the Appendices to remove the white space.

Did the design of the manual help or hinder you?
It hindered me as the page numbers were not in order. I would recommend you fix that
Do you feel the way I am delivering my instructions (in a 5 ½”x8 ½” booklet) is effective?
I would say it would look a lot better as a physical booklet. Viewing it on a computer is difficult to follow.
Were you able to successfully follow both the novice and expert set of instructions? If not what prevented you from doing so?
I was able to complete both sets once I was able to get through the layout. It was easy to follow.
Do you feel that the manual was written in a sequential fashion?
Yes, the steps were in the right order for a user just starting out with no music.
Was there any part of the instruction manual you thought could have been explained more thoroughly?
More detail given, more pictures, etc.?
No, there was an adequate amount of pictures that detailed what the user needed to do without treating the user as a complete novice.
Are the expert instructions properly written towards an expert reader?
Yes
Are the novice instructions properly written towards a novice reader?
Yes

You could talk about the different properties one could change in iTunes such as sharing your music so that other computers on a network could listen to it.
Name one thing you think stood in the instructions and one thing that could be improved upon.
The page layout could use some work other than that it looks fine.
Thanks
Thanks for taking the time to test my instructions. It seems that your main issue is the layout of my PDF. As I previously stated, the PDF as is is meant to be printed out and folded into a booklet. That is why things seem to be out of order. I wanted users to be able to assemble the book if they so chose to which is why I left it the way it is. However I can see how viewing it in this manner could make it challenging to assess the documents.
