English 421Y: Technical Writing Online

This week has been mostly about organizing our collaboration, choosing our topic, and writing the proposal.

We began by establishing contact through email. At first our communication has disorganized and we were all unsure of who will do what. However, we quickly started working together on choosing a topic. During the middle of the week, we each emailed the group with ideas about topics. Bu Thursday, we had collected more 10 good ideas. Then we all sorted through the ideas and voted on the top 3 that we liked. Choosing our topic was easy since everyone picked the topic of smart phones as one of their top 3 choices.

For keeping our collaboration organized Emil has set up a website on Microsoft Office Live Workspaces so that we can share files for this project. We plan to place all documents related to this project on this workspace. We also have a task list and a place to gather all of our resources.

For work break up for this week we all have pitched in and helped give suggestions on what to write and have each written parts to place in the project proposal. Joey has organized the information and written it in the form a proposal which Emil revised.

After discussing a little bit for future work, we have decided to assign work to members. The work distribution is tentative, we may reassign work. Here is the plan so far, Joey will be writing the proposal and doing research. Zebulon is planned to do the weekly feedback and researching. Doddy will be designing the layout and receiving feedback from actual users. Estefano will be researching the operating systems. HiggsBoson is assigned to do design work with doing draft work as well.

Overall, our group has been doing really well with connecting our ideas and answering questions rather quickly.
