Week 12 Individual Activity Blog

Well to start the week off, we had to first communicate to each other and figure out exactly what we wanted to do. Once we started emailing each other, I decided to ask everybody to write out some of their thoughts on what to do for this project. After everyone had replied, I asked them to narrow it down to their top three favorite choices. From there, it was pretty obvious what we were going to end up doing for our project. Pretty much everybody in my group had the cell phone topic in their top three, so we all just decided that we were going to do that topic. It was hard to get some ideas and feedback from people, but after several days of continuous emails they finally responded.

Zebulon wrote down some ideas on our Microsoft Live website for our proposal, and from there and from our emails I wrote out the project proposal last week. I ended up doing it because I wanted to get it done and not have to worry about somebody else doing it and it not getting turned in. Once I finished it I emailed it to the group and asked them what they thought. Somebody ended up making a few little changes to it and spreading it out. At the end of the week we all agreed that what I made was good and Zebulon turned it in for us.

There is useful information in this post, but I want to draw your attention to tone. These statements caught my eye:

"It was hard to get some ideas and feedback from people, but after several days of continuous emails they finally responded."

"I ended up doing it because I wanted to get it done and not have to worry about somebody else doing it and it not getting turned in."

Keep in mind that your group mates will be reading these blogs later in the project and evaluating your contribution to the group based on them. You do not want to seem that you don't value the contributions of your group mates. Focus on your concrete role in the group's success.
