Week 13 got off to a rolling start thanks to last week’s topic picking and decisions on group communication. Upon taking a look at the week's tasks and seeing we needed to develop a Gantt chart we decided we needed to assign tasks to each of us. We decided that we would alternate who writes the group activity blog for each week. This will allow all of our group members the opportunity to accomplish this task. Zephyrus (Jack) took charge of creating the Gantt chart due to his knowledge from previous courses that required Gantt charts. The creation of the Gantt chart is going to be a great help at keeping our group on task. It will also let us know who is working on what along with how long we have to complete each task and the project.
Much of our group discussion for the week was focused on how we can narrow down our audience selection. This will allow our white paper to have much more effectiveness. We also discussed a few different types of open source software that we could focus our white paper on. Focusing our white paper on a select type of software will make our comparison between open source and a Microsoft solution much more specific and effective.
We have started researching individually on our topic. We noticed there were a few different strategies from the readings that could be used. Some of us plan on writing down our research on paper and the others are planning on making notes in a word document. Regardless of the differences in how we plan on recording the research we will all be including summaries about the source. This will allow us to easily review what information we have. This will help a lot in forming the layout and direction of our white paper.
Feedback: Group 4 Week 13 Activity Report
Glad to hear that the group is making progress.
With respect to the activity report, the middle paragraph could possibly contain some more detail. For instance, what other open source options have you discussed? When documentation such as activity reports are deployed in professional settings, it is best to approach them in terms of demonstrating work done. The more concrete the evidence, the stronger the case.
