English 421Y: Technical Writing Online

The following is my individual report of work from April 6 through April 12.

This week has been another week full of productivity. Since our group has narrowed down the targeted audience of our white paper, I was able to begin research on wind turbines. The first step I had to do was to familiarize myself with wind turbines. In order to do this I started off by going to Wikipedia. I learned that there are two main types of wind turbines. These types are horizontal axis and vertical axis. I found that in most cases horizontal axis wind turbines are used because they tend to be more efficient. After familiarizing myself with wind turbines, I began research on the current problems with providing power. Although I still have plenty of research to continue, it appears that the main problems are associated with the cost and the environmental effects of traditional power sources.

In addition to my research, I was also in charge of putting together our group’s activity report. In order to do this, I went back over all of the email that our group had exchanged. Using this email I was able to give a brief write up as to what we had accomplished for the week. This report also noted the changes that we had decided upon as to whom our white paper would target.
