English 420Y - Business Writing Online

The video I chose was from a person on the plane who took footage along the way. It is what he called the 14 hour hostage. The URL for the video I chose is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnnJeV-Gtas. The video goes from the beginning from when the passengers were boarding and you can see parts in betwee. You can tell from the video that many of the customers are agitated and concerned about what is going on even when they are boarding. Many passengers were treating the crisis much like a joke at first, then they became more serious as the number of hours become a two digit number.

The readings I did for the week were very helpful in establishing a good understanding about the Jet Blue crisis. I feel that a plan should have been in place considering they are a airline. Airlines especially should have a plan in place for weather, considering weather is something that can change any given minute. I know that sometimes weather can be unpredictable, but the airline should have brought the passengers back to the terminal, and not have kept them on the runway.

I chose the resumes on pages 5, 14, 20, 26, and 28. I chose these resumes because their layouts were very organized and the detail was in the right place. When the layout is more organized you are more aware to the information provided. All the resumes I chose were very well organized and the information was given in the correct order. Always education was at the top, which is where is should be because that is most important to us in this time in our lives. I noticed that 5 has got chosen a lot, and I think that most people had the same idea that I did.

While reading "Boss's Angry Email Sends Shares Plunging", I found that this was proabably not the best way to approach a problem of this size. I realize email is a fast way to reach everyone in the company, but sometimes it is not the best choice. Especially in this matter, obviously the matter at hand that Mr. Patterson needed to discuss was very important to him and he was very angry about the issue. Mr. Patterson I am sure had a motive behind the email, and I am also sure that is was to put a little scare into his employees to tighten up or else. Mr.
