Work blog week#7

I think this week went great, as far as the bochure is concerned. The 7th week has ended, which means that most of the work is already done. Early this week we recieved comments on the first draft of the brochure from Ryan. He had pointed a lot of areas that could be refined to make the brochure look more professional and organized. Alex made some changes to the brochure such as changing pictures and reorganizing information. I saw the brochure, made some changes myself and sent it to everyone for their comments and approval.

Reading Response #7

Appeal to Emotions (+)
I think our bochure appeals to the emotion of the people. A lot of people adopt a pet when they feel lonely. We have used the pictures showing happy owners playing with their pets. Other than that we have also used a line saying, "Who wants a cat that hides under the bed when your children try to pet her?" I think a lot of people will be able to relate to this.

Be Professional (+)
All the pictures used in the brochure are of high quality. The colors used are light ad simple.

Be Personal (+)

Aggarwal Work Blog Week #6

The work was still smooth this. The group decided that we should use Ms office publisher to create the brochure. I didnt know how to use it and thus spent 2 days in trying to work with it. I had started creating the software. There was a communication gap in the end. I guess the internet was down, for which Faheem and Alex weren't able to post any comments on the wiki page. I thought the project wasnt ready and thus started a brochure and sent it to everyone to add something. But then the next day Alex posted the brochure that he had created.

As described in chapter 24, the visual aids are an integral and a very important part of being expressive. As is said, “a picture is worth thousand words” stands absolutely correct. Since the pictures are of great importance, a lot of care has to be taken while deciding on the photos to be put in the brochure. A person won’t open the brochure until it is appealing with some great pictures. We tried to put some pictures that might trigger some past emotional feelings.

work blog Week # 5

I think that the work has been good till now. I guess i will have to rearrange my schedule as I am presently in India, and I am way behind in the time zone. But il try to work according to the american time so that there is no communication problems and the matters could be deiscussed and sorted immidiately. Alex created a gantt chat which I compared with other examples and think it looks good. I think that the task of reading response, for which we had to find a brochure will help in the next week in figuring out the pattern and various other related details.

The brochure I found is about green scaping issued in the public interest by The United States Environment Protection Agency. I my view this is a perfect example of a lively and attractive brochure. There is so much freshness in it, predominantly created by the pictures added. The pictures are very well suited to the theme and the purpose of the brochure.

Reading Response# 4

In my opinion chapter 1 presented the information that the people already use but just don’t realize it. It is very important to study the audience that is going to read the text and also the setting or the circumstances in which they are going to do that. For example it is very much different to ask an advice on personal essay from a good friend and just an acquaintance. The example provided in chapter 1 that talks about the mad truck driver is perfect.
