Reading Response #3

After finishing the assigned readings for this week, I have concluded that JetBlue handled the crisis very well. While the situation was pretty much out of their control, they dealt with the customers as well as they could. When facing the public, the CEO, David Neeleman, was very apologetic and sincere. The fact that he even faced the public is a sign of his sincerity. It would have been very easy for him to have just stayed out of the public eye and to have avoided the situation all together.

JetBlue Crisis

The article I chose to use came from Forbes.com. In the beginning, it summed up the events and details of the JetBlue crisis. Then, it went on to discuss the way the CEO, David Neeleman, handled the situation. The article was mainly praising him for stepping up and apologizing to the public, rather than hiding from it. The article compares Neeleman to other CEOs, such as Kevin Burke, the CEO of the New York City utility firm Con Edison.

Resume Extravaganza

After scanning through all of the resumes, the ones that stood out the most were 5, 12, 21, 22, and 32. One thing all five had in common was that they all had difined sections. They section titles were in a seperate column from the information describing them. That made finding information of the resumes very easy. A few had unique features that helped them to stand out. For example, number 12 used italics and underlining to add emphasis to different points. Also, number 21 had the section titles highlighted in grey, which made the sections even easier to define.

Reading Response #2

I haven’t really had a whole lot of experience with sending out formal emails. While I do work at a place that uses email frequently to communicate with the home office, I rarely do the emailing myself. I do, however, use email to communicate with members of my sorority. With close to one hundred girls in the house, email is a very important communication tool, as well as, the most effective. I’ve learned that the tone of an email makes the difference on how the reader reacts.
