LYNCH Work Blog Week #8

I feel that our group made a lot of progress this week and were able to improve and finish our final drafts. The first thing I did was go over the comments and our draft two brochures. I then made some changes to our draft and made some suggestions of some things that I thought we needed to look over. I then posted the revised draft with the changes I had made and with suggestions for changes that needed to be made on the wiki page. I attended our group meeting on AIM and afterwards I posted on the wiki page what we had discussed and what we each were going to do to finish our final draft.

LYNCH Work Blog Week #7

This week our group started off by making changes to our second draft. I helped change some of the text, removed some information that was not necessary, and added a few things to the text. Most of the changes that I made corresponded to the feedback that we received on our first draft. I then did a peer review of another group’s brochure and this helped me get some more ideas and see what other groups are doing to make their brochure effective.

Reading Response

I thought this activity was pretty interesting because it hit the main points on making an effective brochure and it was pretty easy to use. It helps show what areas need to be worked on and if you are totally in the wrong ballpark. I think this could actually help my group when we are making our final draft to make sure that we have achieved these points and have an effective brochure.

LYNCH Work Blog Week 6

This week our group had to do a lot of work in putting together our first draft for our brochure. I feel that we were pretty successful on our first draft but we also have room to improve it and make it more effective. The first thing that I did for the week was do a little more research for information that we could include on our brochure. I used some of the websites that were listed under the project to find out as much as I could about the Christmas party and CFRC.

Reading Response

After reading Chapter 37 in The Thompson Handbook, I think that our group did a pretty good job of having variety and emphasis in our brochure. We did not use the same sentence lengths the whole time and had some points broken up with bullets. The different lengths provide variety to the reader when they are reading the brochure and the bulleted points emphasis the points that are being made under our headings. I'm sure that if we looked a little closer we might be able to add even more variety to our sentence patterns and word order.

LYNCH Work Blog Week #5

This week was a light work week for the most part. Our group worked on the Gantt chart and tried to figure out how to communicate the most effectively. I just tried to communicate with my group and I did so first by sending them an email saying hi with my screen name so that they could have another way to contact me. I then checked out the wiki page to see what people had posted and what needed to be done in our group. I then made comments about some things that were posted about group meetings. I then started looking over the project and what had to be done.

Reading Response

The audience that we are addressing in this letter is the passengers and customers of JetBlue during the winter storm that occurred and caused hundreds of delays and cancellations. Many of these people were stranded in airports or even runways for a number of hours. After reading articles on this topic and listening to passengers' videos, these people were not very happy with the situations that they were put in because of these issues.
