On Sunday, I e-mailed my group members about meeting times to work on our revision of our first draft. We all realized we had a lot of work to do but we didn’t let the comments on our first draft ruin our work ethic or our teamwork. We remained positive. We met Monday night in an AIM chat room and discussed the main parts of the brochure that needed to be changed. We also brainstormed new ideas for our second draft. Ben started making revisions from our ideas. On Tuesday afternoon, Ben and I discussed the revisions on AIM.
During Week 7, I have worked on revising our brochures. We started the week having feedback on our first draft. I sent out an email to all members with what we had to change. I then gave directions on who should complete what. I emailed individually with Pratyush to discuss our caring for your pet brochure. I talked with him to make sure all parts are original. I then set to work revising our brochure. I edited a few minor places that I had written. I also redesigned the brochure. I switched the colors and the headings to make it more professional and easier to read.
I just received comments from the Humane Society on Weber's Service Learning Projects, and posted them under your second draft peer editing posts. The Humane Society put thought and effort into the posts, so please consider them carefully. Some are blunt and may challenge your favorite aspects of the brochure, but remember, the customer is always right. I will send a longer email about the service learning project tomorrow. Keep up all the hard work.
This week was a good week for our team. I think we made great strides to improving our brochure. At the end of last week our team read the comments and was not happy with the results. Over the weekend I began editing the brochure. I made a new cover and edited the image to say, “Bring out the inner santa.” I also redesigned the mail inform to look more professional. I then sent this update to everyone else in the group with other suggestions that they could work on. I was in contact with the group members over the weekend and we discussed our thoughts on changes.
This week went fairly well for our group. At the beginning of the week I focused on revising the design of our brochure to better suit the audience and client. This was a challenge for me again because I'm not that good with Publisher yet. With Rachel as my design partner we were able to make significant changes to the brochure. One thing that kept messing up was the lines on the last page, everytime we emailed a copy of our brochure the lines were not aligned. I fixed the lines and it didn't look right still, finally Bill got the lines to stay.
This week started off with editing our project for us to resubmit on Tuesday. Sunday and Monday I was able to work a little on revisions but was forces, because of work, to make most on Tuesday. Since I have been in charge of working on the Humane Society brochure that is the one that I worked on editing. I looked at the comments that were provided by Ryan and tried to improve the brochure. I ended up changing the back cover to remove the directions and instead put a quote and picture. On the inside of the brochure almost all of the text needed to be reworked.
This week our main mission was to revise our brochure to provide more information and persuasion to potential volunteers who could help with the Community and Family Resource Center’s Christmas dinner. We received feedback from our instructor that caught us off guard. He even suggested that we try to refocus and have a fresh start. At first, we seemed discouraged, but we feel it actually helped us in the long run. Since we were criticized so heavily, we were able to refocus our attention on one main point rather than many.
This week I continued revising the "Caring for Your Pet" brochure that Alayna and I created. I searched online and found some more websites that offered royalty free pictures and looked over them. I was able to find new pictures for three new pictures that I put into the brochure for our second draft. I think all three of these new pictures are much better than the old ones I had in there and they make our brochure look a lot neater and more professional. Along with changing the pictures, I did some research on complementary colors.
This week our group continued working together the way we have been for the past weeks. Our group emailed each other our availability for Monday. We ended up meeting in an AIM chat room Monday night. We discussed as a good some of the changes we need to work on. Each of us reviewed the comments from the instructor over the weekend and we discussed some of the key issues that needed to be changed. Some of the issues that we focused on were mainly the text and changing some of the columns around to make them less crowded. We put all of the ideas together and started working on it.
