After reading about the CEO at Cerner that lashed out at his employees, I felt that this topic would be the most interesting for me to discuss for this week’s reading response. It is alarming that a person of that high powered position would think it was appropriate to express himself to his subordinates in that way. People our age are told time and time again that we must not send an e-mail that we wouldn’t want a particular person or group of people to read, because e-mail is in writing, and therefore it is proof of whatever statement is made.

After reading the text, I was a lot more clear on what employers actually mean tin their job ads. For example, I always thought that when the ad said experience reccomended but not required ti meant if you did nto have any experience you would nto get hired. After reading the text I found a job on career builder after much searching. It is for an entry level food technologist. I think its good to look for entry level jobs because i think they are willing to teach you as you go alongthe road.

The position I picked is Junior Health Physics Technician for Consolidated Safety Services. The responsibilities would include monitoring in the field with radiation instruments, keeping an inventory on radioactive material with organized log books, process and packing materials for proper shipment, and training other individuals in the proper handling and logging of these tasks and materials.

The job position that I am interested in pursuing after I graduate in May 2008 is a Specialty II Sales Representative for Endo Pharmaceuticals in Naperville, IL. The company specializes in sellling products to pain management specialists, neurologists, oncologists, clinical decision makers and other physicians. In addition to the selling, a representative would go out and educate them on the features and benefits of Endo Products. Sales Representative will also make on call visits to hospitals ensuring Endo products are stocked and dispensed.

The job I’ve been hoping to get for quite a long time now is the position of Investment Banking Analyst in Citigroup. My minor is finance and, although I am aware I don’t have much experience with that field in particular, I would like to apply for that. The position will require for me to be a key advisor regarding any events in global finances. They have three groups in which they divide this department. The division that most interests me is the Financial Strategy Group which advises companies in financial decision-making.

I am hoping to enter the workforce in February 2008. I am only going to have my bachelor’s degree in Health Science, which may be too general as a degree. I say this because most Health Science majors go to graduate school or medical school. I plan to go to graduate if the job search does not go well. As I searched through different job ads, I tried to look for jobs that only required a degree. I looked for these in areas that I may be interested in such as pharmaceuticals and occupational health.

I think being an Entry Level Marketing and Management trainee for Culver Careers would be a good job for me to start of with. As being a management trainee based on the website we will learn the aspects of business management from sales and marketing , which will help us to run our own business later on or even become a marketing or a sales manager.I applied for this job because it seemed very interesting to me how the company aims towards peoples futures, by training them for the right job and then letting them experience the outside world.
