Here is the employment final project
After reading a few articles about the JetBlue crisis, I think the company was downright wrong it their decision making. Not thinking things through long enough did more harm than good in the long run. I read how travelers were stranded in planes for hours on the tarmac because the company did not want to pay the gate fees they would have paid had the planes been waiting at the gates. That sounds like a selfish company not putting their customers first.
This article is about a person who experienced the onboard debacles that took place on a JetBlue plane that was sitting out on the tarmac at JFK airport for hours. This woman started up a website called jetbluehostage.com which allows people to vent what they have to say about JetBlue or post editorials that expose some problems within the company.
This was definitely something new and I’m glad I got the opportunity to do an activity like this. Having gone through more than 30 resumes in less than 10 minutes, it gave me a better perspective of what employers endure when looking for a solid, qualified candidate. Now I can see why employers spend about 15 to 30 seconds on each resume, it is very time consuming.
The signature information on page 616 was very helpful for me. Being as a lab intern, I have recently received and sent out numerous emails to co-workers. I never noticed the signature from the person writing the e-mail, but after reading this section I realized I did not have one and soon created one. I have also used some of the steps from the Ten Habits of Successful E-mailers on page 606. I already knew about half of the steps, the other half being very insightful information. Regardless of who it is one always has to reply rather promptly because in my eyes it shows responsibility.
