Due to Thanksgiving break this week was notably less productive than others during the course of this project. Due to a lack of progress of the front-end coding team we were unable to begin work on a change document or make any real adjustments to the design plan. I spent Wednesday reeducating myself on coding in HTML and CSS after being approached by one of the members of the organization team about helping the front-end team get up to speed.
week 14: design

Last weekend, I received the photos that Tyler sent to the design team. There were thirty photos to look through. I picked out fifteen photos that I thought would work well on the website. The photos that I chose were the photos that showed group activities. I also picked out a few good shots of some individual kids.
Design Week 13
Pat — Fri, 11/21/2008 - 23:59
Monday was spent discussing our layouts and color schemes. We decided which designs we would send to the client so that they could make their decision. We sent the designs to the organization team and they shared them with the rest of the class. The designs were sent to the client and we could not do much else until they told us which design they wanted.
Design Chosen

Early in the week it was hard to get a clear direction of where to go. Monday was spent analyzing each of the design team's designs and choosing which aspects that regardless of what the client chose, we could carry over to the next. Last week I had already made the first mock up, which ended up being chosen after Wednesday. So this week I had not made another design on my own.
Week 13: design
lefty150 — Fri, 11/21/2008 - 13:15
Last weekend, I was busy making some more mockup designs. I made modifications to the original mockup one design that Tyler created (Google doc’s title “mockup design 2”). Most of the modifications that I made to this design were arrangement and layout changes. I also used the same color schemes that I had used on the first mockup on this modified mockup. I also created two more mockup designs (Google doc’s title “mockup design 3”). One of the mockup designs that I created was based off of a more traditional website layout. I created another mockup based off of the one that I created.

Week 12: I forgot to do one for week 12, but during this week I made thumbnails. I discussed possible website layouts with my team and then proceeded to lay my ideas down on paper. On Friday I decided that I would also design a layout for the website and make that into a color comp for consideration.
Week 12 review
Pat — Fri, 11/14/2008 - 22:10
So here’s what happened this week, the design group is currently working on mock-ups and color comps of the draft website. I have submitted two mock-ups and color comps this week. We are where we need to be according to the Gantt chart. In one more meeting we should have the basic design layout picked and then we will discuss color options. Once that is decided, we will hand it over to the front end coders to program, while we decide on which images to use from the CD bank of images that we have.
Week 12: Design
lefty150 — Fri, 11/14/2008 - 21:52
This is the first week of the project. The design team has been very busy with creating mockups, color comps, and communicating with the front end team. Tyler has done an excellent job with communicating and keeping our team on schedule.
Week 12
cechambe — Fri, 11/14/2008 - 20:08
During week 12 the design group got a good start on the work at hand and was able to accomplish several things. The first thing we did was sit as a group and discuss and view several other Youth websites to determine some things we knew we wanted. We were able to determine that we needed to find something simple that would allow the user to access each part of the site easily and without confusion. The website would need to be broken up into content for jobs, the community center, and the board of directors.
Starting Out
islington — Fri, 11/14/2008 - 18:22
This week was the beginning of the project. As such, there was quite a few things to take care of. The design team is very focused and busy during the first portion of development. As part of the design team, I communicated heavily with the front end coders, the organization team, and my own team to decide how best to approach everything and what needed to be accomplished within the week's time. My team and I parsed through existing websites, garnering ideas and modifying or creating our own designs using thumbnail sketches.
