Instructions Project Assessment - Outlook 2007

Final Draft: Outlook 2007 E-mail Setup

My final draft is more practical as an online tutorial, so mine is posted on my personal Purdue webpage in HTML format. To see my instructions, follow this link.

Outlook 2007 E-mail Setup

As I have never dealt with HTML before, I did not know how to place a link to separate each of the instruction sets. Therefore, the Novice instructions are first, followed by the Expert.

Outlook 2007 E-mail Rough Draft

Overall, my instructions sets are similar, showing each type of user a different way of approaching the same goal. My novice audience is someone who has installed Microsoft Office, but has never took advantage and tried Outlook. The novice audience is also someone who has limited knowledge of how a PC works, and my instructions show a detailed walkthrough. My expert audience is someone who knows a little about setting up e-mail systems, but may not know exactly how Outlook operates.

Hidden Design

Honestly, I never knew all that I just read about went into design. I usually just get some pictures, make some text with bold headings, slap the pictures in the text, and call it good. My roommate is a graphical design major, and I never understood what he did. He would always try to make things look so "pretty" while I would view the document as not having enough information. I think for a good design, two people with these contrasting mindsets should work together to form a great design.

Outlook 2007 E-mail Setup

I use Microsoft Office 2007, and I have always wanted to take advantage of Outlook. I just recently configured my email on Outlook, and it is now much easier to send and receive emails. My instructions will involve showing the user how to setup email accounts on Outlook 2007. I have never found any useful and simple instructions for this, and I have never known that it was easy to setup and easy to use. My audiences will be a first-time Microsoft Office user and a user that has experience with Microsoft Office but that has never dealt with Outlook before.
