Sandquist Work Blog Week 8

This week I worked on revising the general information brochure. The Clinton County Humane Society offered many suggestions. It seemed like there were a lot of suggestions that would drastically change how our brochure was designed and the content within the brochure. After looking through the changes and actually making the changes, they really did not add much. All of the changes to the brochure made our brochure look really professional and it is hopefully what the humane society wants to see in a brochure that they could really use.

Reading Response Week 7

5:00 Appeal to Emotions:+
The cover of the general brochure appeals to the emotions mainly with the dog on it. He looks like he needs a home and that is what the humane society is about. Also, the phrase "Because We Care" shows the emotion of love to the animals they work with.

4:00 Be Professional:+
The design was ok for this brochure. It appeals to the younger crowd and that is who is important for the humane society to get the kids to have the want to adopt a pet. If it needed to be dressed up more, it could but I think its fine as is.

Work Blog Week 7

This week we received the feedback on our brochure from Ryan. Overall both our brochures did nicely but could definitely be edited to be more professional and geared toward the Clinton County Humane Society. Daniel did some editing on the general brochure's design. It took into account the color scheme and toned down the color so that it was more reader friendly. When I got the revised design on Monday afternoon, I looked at the reviewed brochure and made many changes to the content. First, I edited the directions to the CCHS on the back panel.

Peer Edit

I really liked this brochure. The cover works well incorporating a font that is very Christmas like and keeps a sense of theme throughout the brochure. The red and green colors contrast well as well as stick with the Christmas theme. You did a good job using the different font types from sans serif to serif fonts between the header of the paragraph and the content of the paragraphs. In the About Us panel of the brochure, I like how you followed a pattern of numbering what the CFRC does and then use a verb to start the explanation of what they do.

Sandquist Work Blog Week 6

This week our group worked on the initial design of the General Brochure and the Caring for Your Pet Brochure for the Clinton County Humane Society. I received the general brochure design from Daniel on Monday. I thought it was a pretty good design for a brochure dealing with pets. I then added sections about the history of the humane society, ways that people can help the humane society with different types of donations, and about the humane society's mission statement.

Reading Response Week 6

After reading chapter 37, I think our group did a good job of varying our sentence structure within the brochures we made. On page 759 of the Thomson Handbook states "lively writing contains a mix of sentence structures: simple, compound, complex and compound-complex." We used all of these sentences in the caring for the pet brochure. An example of when we used the simple and compound sentences would be "The pet now has to get comfortable in a whole new world,

Sandquist Work Blog Week 5

Our group introduced ourselves this week via the wiki page. We met on Thursday night on AIM and discussed what we would need to do to accomplish the brochures. I recommened making 2 groups of 2 with each team doing a brochure. The group agreed on this idea. Daniel and I are working on the general brochure. Daniel will be doing the design while I will be focusing on the content of the brochure. Alayna and Cory will be working on the Caring for your pet brochure. Alayna will focus on the content and Cory will be working on the design.
