Week 12 review

Pat — Fri, 11/14/2008 - 22:10

So here’s what happened this week, the design group is currently working on mock-ups and color comps of the draft website. I have submitted two mock-ups and color comps this week. We are where we need to be according to the Gantt chart. In one more meeting we should have the basic design layout picked and then we will discuss color options. Once that is decided, we will hand it over to the front end coders to program, while we decide on which images to use from the CD bank of images that we have.

Week 12: Design

lefty150 — Fri, 11/14/2008 - 21:52

This is the first week of the project. The design team has been very busy with creating mockups, color comps, and communicating with the front end team. Tyler has done an excellent job with communicating and keeping our team on schedule.

The documents and testing team spent the entirety of this week working on creation of initial design plan elements and a draft-testing plan. Personally I was in charge of working on the “board member “ audience of the website. After browsing the CFRC website I found the current board member list. This allowed me to gain a better understanding of their collective careers, as they are listed on the site. This background information, as well as some searching on some board member’s employer homepages led to the audience, context, arrangement, and strategies sections of my portion of the analysis.

WEEK 12

almost famous — Fri, 11/14/2008 - 20:22

This week has been a little confusing for me. There has been a lot going on and a lot of hashing back and forth. I have no background in web design so much of my task this week has been asking questions to help better understand what each item means in the Gantt chart and how much time and effort some of these tasks take. This week I created a class group on gmail with Stephanie so that our group could easily distribute documents. I also helped created the deadline doc with Stephanie. Today, each of us visited each of the groups and asked about the project.

Week 12

cechambe — Fri, 11/14/2008 - 20:08

During week 12 the design group got a good start on the work at hand and was able to accomplish several things. The first thing we did was sit as a group and discuss and view several other Youth websites to determine some things we knew we wanted. We were able to determine that we needed to find something simple that would allow the user to access each part of the site easily and without confusion. The website would need to be broken up into content for jobs, the community center, and the board of directors.

RhythmRunneR — Fri, 11/14/2008 - 19:03

Our classroom project has gotten to a slow but sure start this week. Since my team hadn’t already set up the procedure for governing progress on the site, it was generally freely-run by the individual teams for the first few days. Still, by the end of the week our group had determined what duties we were responsible for and became far more effective in our leadership, and I believe this trend will continue in the upcoming weeks as we become more comfortable with our tasks.

Week 12

Roachel — Fri, 11/14/2008 - 18:48

This week the documents and testing team goal was to complete the six rhetorical elements for each specific audience for this project. Each member was assigned a specific audience( job searchers, board of directors, donors, and volunteers), and our job was to analyze each of the six rhetorical elements that apply to our specific audience. Our second goal was to create a survey for each audience in order to test how well the website is designed.

Week 12

noles32 — Fri, 11/14/2008 - 18:27

Reflecting on the first week of project 3, the frontend coders and I were able to successfully accomplish specific set goals. Some these particular goals that were set for this week included starting to analyzing client’s website, selecting coding language for client new website and discussing with other associated groups on design layouts plans.

Starting Out

islington — Fri, 11/14/2008 - 18:22

This week was the beginning of the project. As such, there was quite a few things to take care of. The design team is very focused and busy during the first portion of development. As part of the design team, I communicated heavily with the front end coders, the organization team, and my own team to decide how best to approach everything and what needed to be accomplished within the week's time. My team and I parsed through existing websites, garnering ideas and modifying or creating our own designs using thumbnail sketches.

Week 12

s5m32l3 — Fri, 11/14/2008 - 17:08

For the first week of the project it was a little confusing for our team. We weren't quite sure what all we needed to do. We started off sending out documents to everybody. We made documents so any of the teams could post questions for the client if needed. We also had each team list all their tasks within their teams and how long each would take. After getting the feedback from the teams we took that information and put it into a gantt chart. We color coordinated each team to make it easy to follow.
