English 421Y: Technical Writing Online

The job I have chosen for this project is: Process Engineer for Corn Products International.

As I was searching for a job that would fit my skill set I realized that it was going to be a lot harder than I had originally thought. I could find jobs that required my basic skill set, however they all required some sort of prior experience in the filed, usually a substantial amount of time, usually around 3-10 years worth of relevant experience. After searching for awhile I finally landed on this one.

I think we all have an idea of the ideal job for us in our heads and spend most of our lives wondering if we’ll ever be in this wonderful position. While it may be a little unrealistic that you’re going to jump right out of college and into your dream job, it’s very feasible to take a step in the right direction. Ideally I would like to work for a very dynamic company that has a vastly positive impact on our world. I’ve chosen to analyze some career opportunities at a little company by the name of Google.

I chose a position as a diagnostics engineer at HP for my job analysis. I chose HP because they are a large information technology corporation. This position would be a good start to my future career in IT. I have had a previous internship with Information Systems Resources. It is a small local IT company in my home town. They specialize in it solutions for small to medium businesses. I gained a lot of good experience with IBM AS400 systems and windows. I worked closely with one of their consultants and traveled with him to fix customer’s needs.

The position of Sales Engineer for Trane Commercial Systems involves the sale of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems, components, and controls to customers. An ideal candidate for this position is someone with a technical background in an engineering discipline (specifically mechanical or electrical), is self-motivated, and has strong interpersonal skills and business demeanor.

The position I have chosen for my job analysis and ultimately applying for is as a project engineer for Brutoco Engineering and Construction Inc. I have chosen this particular position because I have worked as a field engineer for Mass. Electric Construction Company and a project engineer would be an “advance” from this.

In searching for a relevant job to my career on www.monster.com I found it harder than I thought. Some of the things that I required in my job search were location, job type, and specific job position. I was looking for a job in California and looking for an internship position for Mechanical Engineering. With a couple internships under my belt, I was looking for a company that would give me a better opportunity in the future. After searching I found an internship available in Mechanical Engineering from Apple Inc. Apple Inc.

The job that I have chosen to consider for this analysis is a mechanical engineering internship position for Dynetics. This internship would take place during the summer of 2009 at there headquarters location in Huntsville, Alabama.
