Work Blog Week 7

Since I was in Vegas for work last week and did not have any time, this week I did much of the work. Matt, Samana and I worked it out that I would do the second draft revisions. With one person doing both of the revisions, it made it easier to make the brochures look uniform. I first read the instructor comments and took those into consideration. I think all the comments were very helpful. From these, I got a better picture of what directions the brochures needed to go. I changed the symbol we were using for the Humane Society since it was not the correct logo.

Reading Response Week 7

I believe that our brochure appeals to your emotions mainly because of the cute pictures of the dogs on the cover. I know that when I see our covers, it makes me want to adopt a dog! I think most of the people who would be reading our brochure are very interested in getting a pet to help rescue them. Any pictures of animals would appeal to their emotions therefore I do not think this task was very hard to accomplish.

Work Blog Week 6

This week helped me realize that our group can work together to help others out when they are in a crunch. I had left for Las Vegas this entire week (for my job) and literally had no time to help out with work in the first drafts. Since I contributed a lot of work to the Gnatt Chart I figured this wouldn’t be too much of a problem. Matt and Samana did the first drafts of our pet care brochure and general info brochure. I think they did an excellent job with the design principles and we are well on our way to having very professional looking brochures.

Indiv. Work Blog

My group (Team 5) started out this week with communication through e-mail. John started off the thread and we continued from there. We all gave background information about where we are at the moment, major, etc. The group members all gave good ideas of how we should get the project finished. We might run into a bit of a conflict since Samana is in India and his time schedule is completely different from ours. I guess this is something that will keep us on our toes to complete projects ahead of time.

Professional Brochure

The brochure I found was for a company called NSAI, who consult companies on creating fuel. I thought this brochure it was very appealing when I looked at it for the first time. I found many examples of the book’s principles of graphic design within it. First, the text in the brochure uses alignment to convey meaning. On the fourth page, NSAI uses bulleting to describe the scope of their work. Beneath that, lists of countries are left aligned to save room while keeping a clear format.

Reading Response Week 5

I thought it was very interesting to watch the jetBlue’s customers reactions. This clip, which I provided the link for below, gives a great insight into what it was like to be on the plane for several hours. It was shot from a passenger in a seat and captures flight attendants dealing with disgruntled customers. From what I gathered, the staff seemed very confused and misinformed. Customers were most upset by the fact that they kept getting told different stories from the employees. I also found a letter that was written by a woman trapped on the tarmac for 10 hours.
