Tech review 2

For my final research blog I was able to find another technical review of the Netgear WGR614 wireless router. I found it at devhardware.com. This review was able to confirm many of the pros and cons that were listed in the first review that I read. It talked about the ease of setup as well as the high average speed and long range of the router.

While researching user functionality in Opera I found some neat features. All browsers basically serve the same purpose but it’s nice when you can customize the browser to the way your use the internet and or your browser. Opera gives the user the ability to do just that, customize the browser to their liking, making for streamline browsing. Opera has a widget feature where you can create your own button do perform a certain task or open up a certain URL. This would be extremely useful for an IT person that is looking for one click to perform multiple functions.

Research 2

Thinking about all the uses of open source programming one thought crossed my mind, security. I stumbled across this site, http://www.albion.com/security/intro-7.html, which talks about how open source programming can be very beneficial, but not always secure. By having the source openly available for everyone to see it makes it easier for people to go in and make them more secure for their users. This website talks about why it is easier and how problems have been fixed in the past.
