Research Blog 3

My next bit or research focused on the types of issues that may arise from implementing open source in a school. I hope by knowing what types of problems may arise that I will be able to know what to look out for. This will help us to address some concerns that may be raised by the readers of our white paper. I hope that we can address these concerns before the readers get it in their mind that this may not work for them. There are 5 key questions that were raised in an article I found. The first one was about how will your current systems be compatible with the new systems.

My main focus for our white paper project will be focusing on the needs of our audiences. I will be looking for any and all information that each audience needs to know. I will be researching what all the audience will be using in the platform/software and present the relevant data in the document. But before I begin researching for our audiences, I must research SharePoint and the other platforms for myself first.

This week was extremely productive for our group. We continued to research our individual pieces of the white paper draft, and worked on completing our research blogs. We shared some useful sources via e-mail while we worked.

In addition, we each created our own thumbnail for the design of the white paper. Interestingly, three out of the four of us chose some shade of blue to use as the main color in our thumbnail.

Week 14 Group Activity Report

After having finally nailed down a good solid project proposal, we decided to divide up the research by topics early in the week. We were already a little behind due the proposal changing, and wanted to have as much time as possible to get our research done. The topics consisted of horizontal vs. standing column, closed and open loop designs, and a single loop direct exchange system. Doing this allowed us to be sure we cover all our bases when it comes to different information, along with helping to avoid everyone bringing the same information to the table.
