This activity report summarizes the progress that I have made this week in regard to the white paper project.
This week was spent on the final draft of our white paper on renewable energy options. I met with the group Monday and made sure everyone was aware of the schedule for the rest of the week. I thought it was important that after the rough final draft was done, we should all have a look and give our approval or change it to what we thought would be better. My personal opinion of the final paper that we turned in is that it looked really professional and thorough and our group put a lot of work into it to make it look so.
Individual Activity Report for Group 8 – Week 16
The last of week of working on the white paper project was little stressful. I was in charge of all the graphical formatting and structure for the white paper. After gathering all the final revised sections I place them into Adobe Illustrator accordingly. I had a hard time formatting the information at times to make sure everything would fit, in addition to making it appealing and effective. The biggest problem I encountered was the size of each .pdf file. Since our white paper was more emphasis on graphics it made the file larger which caused minor problems.
This week for me was my only week on the white paper project. I was not able to participate with my group to complete any of the other assignments, so after explaining my situation to my other group members they agreed to put me in charge of turning their rough draft into our final white paper.
This week, I focused on editing the white paper final draft. I worked with my group members to make changes to the white paper in order to address the needed improvements mention in Professor Tirrell's blog comments. The main focus was on making the white paper business oriented rather than consumer oriented. This involved mainly editing the introduction and conclusion, but also editing the descriptions of the individual phones themselves.
This week I spent the majority of my time (not literally) reviewing the instructor's comments on our groups project submission and making adjustments to better my section. The main change that I made was to encompass an additional section, related to the discussion of the economic efficiency of the closed loop geothermal system. I left this out for the rough draft as there was still a little confusion within the group as to how we were going to present this information.
Jason Flittner – Individual Activity Report
This week I did a lot of editing of my section of the white paper. First I needed to have my structure match that of the other two router sections. In our initial rough draft the sub-headers were different so I needed to adjust my subjects for the right sections. I also needed to add information about my router being draft-n capable. There was also information that needed to be given about the hardware of my device. I added things such as the functionality of the power plug, the vertical configuration of the router, and the mobility of its antennas.
I spent most of this week working on inserting revisions and suggestions from the instructors and the rest of the group into our rough draft of the white paper.
