My primary pedagogical goal is to foster productive collaboration in writing instruction through the use of digital technology. Networked tools offer new ways for students and instructors to engage writing's rich social milieu, and my experiences teaching in hybrid and online environments suggest that digital technology can cultivate beneficial interactions not possible through other modes. I believe that technology-enhanced writing education will accrue progressively greater importance because of academia's ongoing digital transition and the specific ability of digital technology to complement a rhetoric-driven pedagogy. Instructors of writing and rhetoric have the unique opportunity to understand and shape how communication occurs in an increasingly networked environment, and I would like to participate in this development with my students.
